  This week, the Flourish team have been surprising our Flourish Champions of the Term, at the schools that they work with and presenting them with a gift voucher and flowers to thank them for their dedication, flexibility and for being amazing to us, the schools that they work with and the pupils that they support.

• The Teacher Workload Reduction Taskforce have published their initial recommendations to help reduce working hours for teachers and leaders by 5 hours a week within the next 3 years.

  The taskforce has published a raft of initial recommendations including the implementation of well-being champions, removal of performance related pay, clear communication to parents and the wider public on expectations around planning, marking and feedback, and listed 23 administrative tasks that teachers should stop doing to reduce their workload.

  We have been busy spreading some festive cheer this December by visiting Primary Schools across the Midlands with Father Christmas, his grotto and a team of helpful elves and handing out books to EYFS and KS1 pupils.

• Secondary Teacher Training recruitment target missed by 50% this year

  The Initial teacher training (ITT) census 2023/2024, published this morning shows the Department For Education has missed it’s target for Secondary Teacher recruitment by 50% this year and missed it’s Primary Teacher recruitment target by 4%.
